Lindsay Hassett (1938 - 1953)
A master of nearly every stroke, his superb timing, nimble footwork and strong wrists enabled him to make batting look very simple. He served as vice-captain for the Invincibles tour of England in 1948. As matches often started the day after the previous fixture, Australia employed a rotation policy and Hassett led the tourists in 9 of the 34 matches.
Sid Barnes (1938 - 1948)
One of Australia's finest batsmen in the period immediately following the Second World War. Barnes averaged 63.05 over 19 innings in a career that, like those of most of his contemporaries, was interrupted by the Second World War. He was picked as the opening partner to Arthur Morris.
Ray Lindwall (1946 - 1960)
A right-arm fast bowler of express pace, Lindwall was widely regarded as the greatest pace bowler of his era. He often improved Australia's position with his lower order batting. Best known performance was his role in leading the Australian bowling attack during the 1948 tour of England.
